Université de Nice-Sophia Antipolis (UNS)

Nice-Sophia Antipolis University (UNS) is the second largest multi-disciplinary French university with 26,000 students and more than 2,500 staff members. The university, research oriented, is developing innovative pedagogic and research actions with many international collaborations.
In 2016, UNS has been awarded with IDEX label on JEDI project for research activities and as one of the 10 major research center in France.

Polytech Nice-Sophia (www.polytech.unice.fr) is the graduate school – “grande école” – of Nice-Sophia Antipolis University and welcome about 1,400 students within 5 main engineering specialties:

  • electronics,
  • computer sciences,
  • applied mathematics,
  • bio-engineering and water engineering/hydroinformatics.

Polytech Nice- Sophia is a key member of the new STIC campus located in the largest European Technopark, Sophia Antipolis and is deeply involved in the 3 major strategic axis: ambient computing, ICT for health and biology, ICT for water & environment.

The Polytech Nice-Sophia teams develop original pedagogic and research themes where they combine added values from the different technical fields in order to develop added values by the ICT. As an example, Polytech Nice-Sophia teams coordinate and participate in several European research projects under various frameworks like FP7 and H2020.

At the same time, the teams develop original research activities at the interface of various domains – bio, water, electronic and computer sciences – and formalize partnership with industrials.

Polytech Nice-Sophia has developed during the last years an exceptional network of industrial partnerships – more than 350 companies – mainly focused on innovation and ICT adapted to various sectors. The exceptional international environment of Sophia Antipolis strongly reinforces this dynamic.

During the past 3 years, Polytech Nice Sophia has coordinated/participated several national and EU initiatives related to toxicology like the PASS cluster or disaster management such as PEARL.

The teams are currently involved in several H2020 projects such as ANYWHERE (2015 DRS1) and REACHING OUT (2015 DRS3 demonstration project as major WP leader) in the Secure Societies theme.
